Wylie Road Wildlife Area, Fir Island, 07.30 - 09.30

Quite a lot of activity near the parking lots - well away from all the
shotgun blasts. There seemed to be a big movement of robins and
waxwings. Lots of flocks dropping into the area from high altitudes.
Small flocks of snow and canada geese flying south as well.

15+ dark-eyed juncos
5 ruby-crowned kinglets
4 golden-crowned kinglets
12 yellow-rumped warblers
3 orange-crowned warblers
2 Swainson's thrushes
112+ cedar waxwings
20 american pipits
2 red-tailed hawks
30+ purple finches
2 belted kingfishers
16 common snipe
1 pine siskin
1 red-breasted nuthatch
4 winter wrens
1 northern flicker
1 chestnut-backed chickadee
14 black-capped chickadees
7 barn swallows
2-300 american robins.

Other species seen: Bewick's wren, spotted towhee, song sparrow, house
finch.

Fir Island - Jensen and Brown's Slough access. 09.30 - 10.00

500+ snow geese
2 rough-legged hawks,
1 long-billed dowitcher
1 pectoral sandpiper
1 peregrine falcon
1 red-tailed hawk
3 greater white-fronted geese
3 barn swallows.
