Birded Damon Spit, the jetty and Bill's Spit at Ocean Shores and the marina
at Tokeland today.

Found four golden plovers at the base of Damon Spit (where there were 20
yesterday), three for sure PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS (judging by color, primary
extension and relative length of folded wing to tail). Lots of RED-THROATED
LOONS and some Commons in the channel. There was a flock of ca 20
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS with maybe 10 BAR-TAILED GODWITS at Bill's Spit, but no
White Pelican.

At high tide about 3 PM at the Tokeland Marina there were by my count at
least 850 (+/- 50) MARBLED GODWITS on the dock roost! The most I've ever
counted here. Plus one female BAR-TAILED GODWIT. It was as large as most of
the Marbleds, but with a slightly more slender-based bill; strikingly paler
plumage with a very different patterning on the dorsal feathers, which were
gray with dark central streaks rather than barred cinnamon-brown, among all
the other contrasting details. And one WHIMBREL; a few WILLETS loafed on the
wharf in the channel. I counted the godwits by fives.

A notable absence of Lapland Longspurs, rock shorebirds, and shearwaters.
