Hey Tweeters,
Today Fred Boesche, Scott Downes and I birded in the general area of Ocean
Shores at a small handful of locations. In general there were actually fairly
good numbers of peeps, for the time of year. The weather was variable to say
the least, with a cold wind and scattered drizzle (mostly in afternoon), but
it definitely could have been worse. Notable birds and there locations are
listed below.

Hoquiam STP/Hoquiam Airfield/Bowerman Basin
120+ Brown Pelicans (more than I've seen in a long time)
1 female Canvasback
3 Common Goldeneye
~80 scaup spp. (both species were present, but numbers of each were not noted)
15 Green-winged Teal
1 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE
1 male "Black" Merlin
1 BARN SWALLOW
60 Yellow-rumped Warblers
5 Golden-crowned Sparrows
2 White-crowned Sparrows
1 Fox Sparrow
10+ Savannah Sparrows

Ocean City State Park
~70 California Gulls
2 Mew Gulls
1 Herring Gull
7 Sanderlings

Damon Point (here we met Rachel Lawson, and birded with her)
1 GREAT EGRET (flying to the east, near the pond)
4 PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS
3 Black-bellied Plovers (at the pond)
5 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS
~200-300 Western Sandpipers (flying by in flocks)
15 Least Sandpipers
5+ Dunlin
2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS
7+ American Pipits
Also many SALMON in the pond, which is now completely washed out and brackish.

Ocean Shores Game Range (accessed from Tonquin Ct)
11 PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS
3 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS
1 Semipalmated Plover
2 Pectoral Sandpipers
1 Common Snipe
5 dowitcher spp.
9 LAPLAND LONGSPUR
Searched extensively for Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, but with no success.

That's about all. Good luck and good birding!
