Tweets - Dawn was gorgeous, with pinkish/orange streaks silhouetting the
Cascades below a canopy of clouds. But the sun disappeared as it rose, the sky
barely brightened, and the clouds got thicker and heavier with each passing
minute. By about 8:00 or 8:30 the rain started and mostly just got steadily
worse. HOWEVER, the birding was good before the rain. No big surprises, but
worth getting a bit damp:

Western Grebe 3 on lake - first for this fall
Green-winged Teal Finally - first for this fall, 2 females at the
weir
Osprey Late sighting - on odd snag above old RTHA
nest
Sharp-shinned Hawk Harassed by crows near weir
Hairy Woodpecker Very loud male near Pea Patch
Cedar Waxwing Somewhere between 30 and 50.
Yellow-rumped Warbler Only saw one, but heard more

Despite the rain, I had good looks at all 8 common winter sparrows. Still
waiting on ducks - nothing but the GWTE and some Mallards. Hundreds and
hundreds of American Robins in the air in the early hours. At least 4 Northern
Flicker, and at least 30 Killdeer.

All told, 38 species on my solo visit this morning.
