Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday October 11. If you have anything to add call

Offshore boat trips October 6-7 to the Heceta Banks 32 miles west of
Yachats found several SOUTH POLAR SKUAS, 6 FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATERS,
LAYSAN ALBATROSS, and on October 7 a SHY ALBATROSS.

A NORTHERN PARULA was at the mouth of the Winchuck River south of
Brookings October 7. A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was in Brookings October 9, and
a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Lone Ranch State Park north of Brookings
October 5 and 7.

A BLACK-THOATED BLUE WARBLER was in Frenchglen October 6. The next day a
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at the pond west of Riley.

On October 4 a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was south of Bandon. On October 7 one
was in Bandon and one was at Bullard's Beach State Park north of Bandon.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was at Bullard's Beach the same day. A
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at Bandon Marsh October 9.

On October 5 a BOBOLINK and a MOCKINGBIRD were on the North Spit of Coos
Bay. A SWAMP SPARROW was in Lincoln City October 9. On October 6 over
15,000 CASSIN'S AUKLETS flew past Boiler Bay.

A SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at Fenk Road near Tillamook October 6. On
October 8 two SHARP-TAILEDS, 3 RED KNOTS, and a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER were at
the South Jetty of the Columbia River. At least 25 LAPLAND LONGSPURS are
now in the South Jetty area.

On October 4 a SABINE'S GULL was at Timothy Lake south of Mt. Hood. A
RED-NECKED GREBE was there and another was at Ankeny NWR October 7. Among
the CACKLING GOOSE flocks at Ankeny NWR October 9 was a BRANT.

A GOLDEN EAGLE was at Finley NWR October 8 and near Lebanon October 10.
Up to 16 WHITE-TAILED KITES are now being seen at Finley NWR. A
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at the Kirtland Road Sewage Ponds near White
City October 6.

On October 6 a SURF SCOTER was at the John Day Dam. Four SURF SCOTERS
were at Big Lake in Santiam Pass October 10. BOREAL OWLS were heard
calling October 6 above Tollgate in northeastern Oregon and near Todd
Lake southwest of Bend.
