The ocean was still pretty cranky this morning at the
South Jetty of the Columbia. Waves crashing over the
usual observation site cut short any offical count.

A PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER made a fairly close approach. There
were at least 2 PARSITIC JAEGERS. Good numbers of northbound
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and GREATER SCAUP were also seen.

A single PECTORAL SANDPIPER was in the Salicornia on the
flats. Four more Pectoral-sized birds flew through. There
were 16 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER on
the beach.

A singing WESTERN MEADOWLARK and a flock of RED-WINGED
BLACKBIRDS were conspicuous along the dunes this morning.
And there are still plenty of LAPLAND LONGSPURS about.
