I took a trip south to Ecola State Park. There was just
enough hazy fog to make viewing difficult. There were
62 BROWN PELICANS on the rocks off Ecola Pt. Several hundred
shearwaters were flying around in to particular direction.
All but one PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER were dark-bellied and
those I saw well were SOOTY SHEARWATERS, but the conditions
necessary to apply Greg's very useful post were (as is often
the case when viewing seabirds from land) sub-optimal.

An EARED GREBE and 10 MEW GULLS were among the NORTHERN
SHOVELERS, MALLARDS and AMERICN COOTS at the Cannon Beach
Sewage Ponds.
