Maybe shrikes are regular winter visitors to the clearcuts of the foothills of the Cascades.
At least, today I saw another shrike south of Skookumchuck Reservoir in south Thurston County.
I remember two sightings in the same area last winter. Maybe it's the same bird exhibiting
a strong affinity for this area as a winter hang out.

Also, a White-tailed Kite along Big Hanaford Road flying over pasture lands. Another species
that I have now seen regulary in the general area. Unlike the shrike, the kites appear to be
year around residents of the area.
