OK, shorebird experts I need your help. I have created a page with a bird
that I am not sure of. http://birdcentral.net/mystery.htm This bird was
photographed on the California coast in late summer. My guess is that is is a
early plumaged non-breeding adult Western Sandpiper. Except the primaries
seem to dark as do the scapulars and there really should be some traces of
brown and red scattered about. Compare it to this photograph of a late summer
Western sandpiper. http://birdcentral.net/wsand.htm

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I am going through my slide collection
and re-organizing it. Again.

BTW, Varied Thrushes for the second day in a row in the backyard.
