HI:
Kevin Aanerud just reported to me a NORTHERN HOBBY at Discovery Park in
Seattle. Kevin saw it from South Beach Trail to the lighthouse. There is
wooden observation platform about halfway down the bluff. From the
platform looking towards the lighthouse the bird has been perching on
trees at eyelevel from the bluff below. IT was seen in the late morning
and was videotaped. From interstate 5 take the 45th/50th NE exit. stay on
50th then over the freeway heading west, at Stone Way turn slightly left
then head up the hill, go under Route 99, then stay on the main road
headed west, then turn left on 15th Ave west. Go across the Ballard
bridge, then turn right after you cross the bridge, then turn right on
Gilman Ave. this become W. Government Way and then follow signs to the
park. Access to the south parking lot is from West Emerson street which is
on the south end of the park.
