Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday October 25. If you have anything to add call

The kingbird first reported October 10 near Canby was finally identified
as a CASSIN'S KINGBIRD. It is still being seen. It is along S. Forest
Road (Gun Club Road). This road runs south from 13th. St. near its
junction with Mulino Road.

A BLUE JAY came to a feeder in McKenzie Bridge October 18. A
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER is still being seen at Lone Ranch State Park
north of Brookings.

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW is near Brookings, another was at Flores Lake,
near Cape Blanco October 21. Also at Flores Lake were a GYRFALCON, a
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, a SWAMP SPARROW, and four LAPLAND LONGSPURS. Two
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS are now in the Cape Blanco area. A GREAT GRAY OWL was
in Port Orford October 13.

Millicoma Marsh in Coos Bay is now attracting wintering sparrows. On
October 23 two NORTHERN SHRIKES were on the North Spit of Coos Bay. One
AMERICAN and Five PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were also there. A male EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at the Dean Creek Elk Meadows near Reedsport
October 20.

A RED PHALAROPE was at the North Jetty of the Siuslaw River October 23.
That day several PYGMY NUTHATCHES were seen among a large flock of
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES near Toledo. On October 23 two LONG-TAILED DUCKS
were at Boiler Bay. A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River October 18.

A first year IBIS was at Bingen Pond in the Columbia Gorge October 22.
That day two SURF SCOTERS were at Stevenson. On October 22 a SNOWY EGRET
was spotted among the swarm of GREAT EGRETS at Oaks Bottom in Portland.

The SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER continues to be seen at the Fernhill Wetlands
in Forest Grove. On October 22 seven SURF SCOTERS, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER,
and two RED-NECKED GREBES were there. The next day a BRANT and a
HEERMANN'S GULL were at Fernhill.

On October 20 a BLACK PHOEBE was at the Willamina Sewage Ponds. A
NORTHERN SHRIKE was at Baskett Slough NWR October 22. Over 200 SANDHILL
CRANES were flying south over Silverton October 20.

Five SURF SCOTERS were at Lost Creek Reservoir on the Rogue River near
Shady Cove October 21. Two SURF SCOTERS were on the Burns Sewage Pond
that day. On October 20 two WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were on Wallowa Lake.
The next day an adult THAYER'S GULL was on the lake.
