Hi Tweets - yesterday I was joined by four stout-hearted souls at 7:30 for our
usual route. The weather was fairly dreadful, with varying degrees of cold
drizzle and icy wind, and a lack of sunlight. The first two hours were pretty
bleak, with very little noted. After we got to the lake platform, however, the
birding improved (even if the weather took it's time doing so). In the end, it
was a very interesting morning:

Canada Goose 1 Aleutian amongst all the rest
Bald Eagle A Nice adult on a post at the lake
Northern Harrier Juvenile bird over dog meadow at around 10:00
Cooper's Hawk Gorgeous, large adult in East Meadow, soccer fields
Common Snipe Six or seven on the soccer fields
Varied Thrush Two beautiful birds at RC dock
W. Meadowlark One atop a softball field light post

A RED-TAILED HAWK brought our raptor count to 4.

There were at least 75 KILLDEER with the Snipe and some gulls (MEW,
RING-BILLED) on the grass soccer fields. The COOPER'S came through and
everything flushed except the snipe who ducked.

The VARIED THRUSH was just our 10th record at Marymoor. There is one March
sighting; all the rest have been from late September through late November.
This was just the second time we've seen more than one individual.

Quite a few YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, all Myrtle's race as far as we were able to
note.

We ended up with 48 species - not bad for a nasty fall morning!
