the birds were seen just before noon.

In South Surrey, a white-striped WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW visited a feeder at 1719 - 144 St. Anyone
wishing to look for the bird should obtain permission
to enter the backyard.

2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were seen at Blackie Spit and a

walking small dogs at Blackie are cautioned that a
sick coyote with open sores on its back and missing
much of its hair is hunting in the area.

The GREAT EGRET was spotted on a fly-by at Reifel in
early afternoon; however, later on it was back in the
large slough along Westham Island Road at the first
bend after the bridge.

WEDNESDAY, October 24:

A late report concerned the following birds: an
immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK in the vicinity of the
Westminster Highway overpass on Highway 99 and from
Highway 17, North of 34B St, 2 RED KNOTS, up to 400
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 2 TRUMPETER SWANS and a
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER.

TUESDAY, October 23:

An adult BROWN PELICAN, brought in by strong coastal
winds, was observed in waters beneath the Burrard
Bridge in Vancouver.

300 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and a juvenile HUDSONIAN
GODWIT were in a flooded field on the West side of
Highway 17, just North of 34B St.

Up to 2 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS and 2 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERs were at Iona in the NW Pond taking shelter
on the NW side. Also at Iona, the AMERICAN KESTREL
was in the vicinity of the washroom building.

2 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen at Blackie Spit, in the
bay just to the north of the spit; also at Blackie was
a WESTERN MEADOWLARK. The GREAT EGRET could still be
found on Westham Island Rd in the large slough near
the first bend in the road after crossing the bridge.

MONDAY, October 22:

The only report was of a GREAT HORNED OWL spotted at Montrose Park, Burnaby.
