Chinook Valley Raptor Count
Pacific County, Washington
October 26, 2001 0900-1010hr

There were 4 WHITE-TAILED KITES easily visible from
Lingenfelter Rd this morning. A 5th kite was on the
east side of Chinook Dike Rd.

I also watched a NORTHERN HARRIER playing "sticks"
this morning. This involves picking up a stick flying
into the wind, stalling, dropping the stick, pouncing
from the air then repeating. I have seen this behavior
before with sticks and small prey items.

BROWN PELICAN numbers are down from last week's
thousands to merely hundreds.
