Yesterday (Saturday, 10/27) I spent the day with several other birders in
Discovery Park in Seattle, searching for the EURASIAN HOBBY. We did not
find this bird. Some of the 50 species we noted for the day are as follows:

Merlin- at least 2, perhaps 3 or 4
American Kestrel- 1 male
Sharp-shinned Hawk- 4
Black Scoter-2
Barred Owl-2
American Pipit-1
Western Meadowlark-1

One BARRED OWL was perched in a tree along the trail half way between the
Indian Cultural Center and the lower of the 3 ponds that are to the north of
the Indian Center. The second and larger owl was flushed between the second
and third of the aforementioned ponds. It flew a short distance and landed
in a tree to the north, just cross the dike.
