Subject: hummers on the move?

We had a lot of Anna's Hummingbird activity through the spring and summer,
but their presence in the yard really fell off during the fall, and there
were days when I was home that I didn't see one at all. We have natural
food (lots of fuchsia blooming) and feeders out, but hummers didn't visit.

But yesterday I was at the computer much of the day, looking out the window
at intervals as I do, and saw several visitations to the little cluster of 3
feeders hanging in the back yard. An immature male came (stripe of color
down the throat), and hours later when I thought it came again, I saw that
the second bird was a female.

Then this morning I saw a mature male (in the sun!) and the/an immature male
in quick succession, so 3 different birds are around. I think that's really
an increase from what we have been seeing for several months, and I wonder
if it's a consequence of cooler weather. Perhaps they're becoming more
dependent on feeders, as plants in flower and small insects diminish.
