Birders,

Here is an updated list of bird species and numbers banded from August
1 through September 3 at the Vaseux Lake Bird Observatory, B.C.,
thanks to Dick Cannings. Vaseux Lake is located south of Penticton in
B.C.'s Okanagan Valley.

Sorry about the 4-letter codes, but as the species are listed in
check-list order, it shouldn't be too hard to figure them out.

> Here are the banding totals from Vaseux Lake as of yesterday. Todd
Hunter reports that there has been some real migration happening,
though netting numbers are still low. There have been lots of
Orange-crowned Warblers moving through in the past few days. A
highlight (or lowlight) from Friday (August 31) was a Yellow-breasted
Chat that managed to extricate itself from the net before Susanne
Maidment could get hold of it. That's one of the later records for
chats from British Columbia. The best bird yesterday was a Least
Flycatcher, the season's first; another young male Lazuli Bunting was
also nice.
