Greetings all,

Well we had another extremely good day off Westport, with a Wilson's
Storm-Petrel being sighted about 6 miles east of our final "chum spot" at
125 degrees. Originally called out as a Leach's Storm-Petrel, but upon
further inspection, it was correctly identified as a Wilson's. non-forked
tail, round when fanned, great big white rump patch that did extend onto the
undertail coverts, and feet dangling way beyond the tail were dead
giveaways. It even pitter-pattered over the water for us feeding with a
large group of Sabine's Gulls. I hope all observers will submit their
descriptions to the WBRC. No photographs were taken.
Other birds well observed were approximately:
250 Sabine's Gulls
5 South Polar Skuas
4 Long-tailed Jaegers
30+ Pomarine Jaegers
4 Flesh-footed Shearwaters
Among the more usual species, lots of nice looks at the usual suspects,
though no terns were observed.
