Hey Tweeters,
Carol Schulz, Matthew Moskwik, and I birded in Pacific and Gray's Harbor
Counties on the 5th and 6th of September. Carol and I started at Damon Point
and the game range (Gray's Harbor Co) on Wednesday (after noting the GREAT
EGRET at Mud Bay, Thurston Co). There was a total lack of shorebirds at Ocean
Shores. The only notable sighting was a MERLIN harassing birds at the base of
Damon Point.

We then headed south to Tokeland Marina, where we met with Matthew Moskwik.
At the marina were:
335 Marbled Godwits
4 Greater Yellowlegs
1 juvenile Short-billed Dowitcher
7 Whimbrel
1 Ruddy Turnstone

We then stopped at Graveyard Spit near Tokeland, and had:
17 LONG-BILLED CURLEW (this seems to be a good spot for them)
9 Marbled Godwits
1 adult male BAR-TAILED GODWIT

Our next spot was Midway Beach Rd, where we found 12 Snowy Plovers (9 imm., 3
adults).

Bottle Beach had a fairly large flock of peeps flying in the distance, plus 8
Black-bellied Plovers. 2 Peregrine Falcons and a Northern Harrier were
working the shorebirds.

We stayed the night in Westport and in the morning participated on the
Westport Pelagic trip, which was extremely successful as Ryan Shaw posted
yesterday. In the late afternoon/early evening we visited Bottle Beach at
extreme high tide, which was not productive other than a single adult
Red-necked Phalarope flying by.
