Today at W-90 ponds 9.30 - 10.30am

25-30 pectoral sandpipers - all the birds were feeding along the high
tide line along the dyke to the north of the ponds.
4 short-billed dowitchers
20 western sandpipers
1 greater yellowlegs

One note of caution. The duck hunters camped out on the ponds were VERY
unhappy to see me. Seems they don't like sharing land owned and funded
by the public. I should point out here that if there were birds around
to hunt then I would have avoided the area entirely but by 10am it was
rather hot and sunny, all the ducks were happily sleeping out in the bay
and most of the folks with guns who knew what they were doing were back
home enjoying breakfast.

At the Jensen Access, Fir Island 07.50 - 08.50am

3 american pipits
2 common snipe
1 western meadowlark
2 american golden plover
25+ semi-palmated plover
8 black-bellied plover
70 western sandpipers
9 long-billed dowitchers
1 short-billed dowitcher
120+ american goldfinches
1200+ swallows - mostly barns but a lot of violet-green mixed in as well.

All the shorebirds were flying around - no birds could be located out in
any of the plowed fields.

Wildlife Area HQ, Wylie Road. 7.10 - 7.40am

3 orange-crowned warblers - 1 was distinctly gray around the head
probably an 'interior' race bird.
3 warbling vireos
1 Wilson's warbler
2 Lincoln's sparrows
1 Swainson's thrush
