A dark storm-petrel with a dark rump was seen from the viewing
platform of the South Jetty of the Columbia River this morning.
Based on flight behavior (bouyant and butterfly-like) and size
we tentatively identified it as a dark-form LEACH'S STORM-PETREL.
A PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER and a POMARINE JAEGER were also seen
along with 15,000 (or so) SOOTY SHEARWATERS.

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the pond west of Battery Russell
in Ft Stevens.

Two AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS were at the Wireless Rd scrape this
morning a mostly basic adult and a juvenile.

A DUSKY FLYCATCHER was among the fallout of warblers, vireos
and tanagers on Coxcomb Hill (see additional post for full count).

There was also a pretty good VARIEGATED MEADOWHAWK migration
under way at the Soth Jetty. Several CALIFORNIA TORTOISESHELLS,
WEST COAST LADIES and a single MONARCH were also migrating
through.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
