Hi All,
It was such a beautiful morning I decided to walk out to the
Nature Conservancy Preserve on the north tip of Kitsap Penninsula. The water
in the marsh is low this time of the year, so the habitat is good for
migrating shorebirds since about half the wetland is drying leaving exposed
mudflats. This morning, we had 2 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 1
MALE WOODDUCK, 10 AMERICAN WIDGEON, 16 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 GREATER
YELLOWLWGS, 14 KILLDEAR AND 2 GADWALL. Off shore were 2 COMMON LOONS, 1
WESTERN GREBE, 11 RED-NECKED GREBES, AND 1 PARASITIC JAEGER harrassing a
flock of Common Terns. On the trail out to the highway we had 2 TOWNSEND'S
WARBLERS, 8 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and many CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES.
