Today I spent the entire day out on the Dungeoness Spit, walking
liesurely to the lighthouse, viewing both sides. I ran into lots of
Sanderlings. Some had warm brown markings in the sides of the head and
sides of the neck. I found only one Sanderling with a warm brown head
and bib. I almost had mistaken it for a Baird's. Here's some of the
birds I did see.

225 Black Bellied Plovers
4 Semipalmated Plovers
40 Short Billed Dowitchers
3 Whimbrel
2 Ruddy Turnstones
125 Western Sandpipers
325 Sanderling
1 Pectoral Sandpiper
2 American Golden Plovers
1 Sooty Shearwater (flying right off shore)
17 Harlequin Ducks
1 Western Grebe
1 Mew Gull
2 Caspian Terns
large rafts of Surf Scoters and Pigeon Guillemots.
