Today I ventured down to Ocean Shores after reading the reports to try
my luck. I arrived at Damon Pt. State Park at 9:30am and was met with a
spectacular display of Sooty Sheawaters beyond belief. I ran over to the
cove in front of the game range where the sky and water was blacken by
Sooty Shearwaters. In both directions, as far as one could see with
binoculars even, there seemed to be no end. I will be conservative on
the estimated number, but there was at least 50,000+ Sooty Shearwaters.

At Damon Point, I ran into Ruth and Patrick Sullivan on my way out. We
all went over to Bill's Spit where we noted 1 Peregrine Falcon perched
in a tree and 45 Marbled Godwits on the end of the spit.

After that, we went to the game range accessed at the end of Tonquin
Road. We were joined by Bill and Nancy LaFramboise in search for
Sharp-tailed Sandpipers. Some birds noted were:
7 Greater Yellowlegs
2 Pectoral Sandpipers
5 Sanderling
3 Whimbrel
1 Peregrine Falcon sitting on the sand bar
