Subject: In among the pipits

While waiting for the shorebirds at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River this afternoon, we heard an individual mixed
in with the AMERICAN PIPITS that was making a call unlike
the usual "pip-it" noises of the other 30 or so. It
consistently was making a high single note "speee" and
ocassionally single "dit" notes. We only saw it in flight
and it appeared to be the same size as all the others.

Anybody familiar with American Pipits doing this?
