We had two interesting flyovers today while banding at
the Neawanna Banding Station.

At about 0900hr 2 SANDHILL CRANES came over flying fairly
high and heading south. A new Clatsop County species for me,
though I have seen them before about this time of year in
Pacific County.

At 1045hr, we caught sight of a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK soaring
in thermal over the river. We watched it with a spotting
scope for about 5 minutes. It showed beautiful bright wing
crescents and black-on-white tail barring. Probably a
juvenile.
