Today Phil Bartley and I conducted a Hawk Watch and bird survey from three
locations on the ridge of the Rattlesnake Hills northwest from the summit of
Rattlesnake MT (elevation 1074 meters - 3600 ft) approximately one mile to
the"pumphouse" on the Arid Lands Ecology Reserve in the Hanford Reach
National Monument, Benton County. (See DeLorme page 39, A-B 4) The
following is a list of the birds we observed from those locations.

Northern Harrier 2, one is an albino
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1, an immature
Cooper's Hawk 1, an immature
accipiter species 1
Red-tailed Hawk 1
Prairie Falcon 3
White-throated Swift 30
Northern Flicker 2
Say's Phoebe 2
Black-billed Magpie 2
Common Raven 2
Loggerhead Shrike 1
Veery 1, a Benton County first, I believe
Hermit Thrush 1
Rock Wren 8
Tree Swallow 1
Barn Swallow 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Horned Lark 40+
House Finch 1
White-crowned Sparrow 30+
Dark-eyed Junco 40+
Spotted Towhee 2
