Subject: Great Blue Heron Herd

Yesterday at about 1300 hrs, just north of the Bone River on Willapa Bay, I
counted upwards of 200 Great Blue Herons feeding on an incoming tide within
a quarter mile of where I was, and I didn't bother counting the more distant
birds that dotted the mudflats as far as I could see. This is the highest
concentration I have seen aside from a rookery. Any one else experience
such concentrated numbers on the Willapa at this time of year?
