Steve Warner and I managed about an hour of mist-netting in
the dune at the South Jetty of the Columbia River before the
rain set in. The caught a SONG SPARROW and 3 SAVANNAH SPARROWS.
Two of the birds captured were probably "Western" Savannah
Sparrows (_alaudinus_) and one was very large and almost certainly
an "Aleutian" type (_sandwichensis_). Both _alaudinus_ and
_sandwichensis_ are northern migrants (_brooksi_ being the coastal
breeder).

The was a pretty good showing of SOOTY SHEARWATERS off the
jetty, just sort of zipping around in no particularly pattern.
