Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Wednesday September 26. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 503-233-3976.

On September 22 a female BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was at Malheur NWR
Headquarters and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER was at Fields. Two RED-SHOULDERED
HAWKS are now at Headquarters. On September 26 a male ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK was near the upper parking lot of Mt. Tabor Park in southeast
Portland.

A major sparrow movement is now passing through the state. GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS are being reported from many areas including Union and Baker
Counties. CASPIAN TERNS are mostly gone leaving only a few scattered
individuals along the coast.

A SAY'S PHOEBE was at Brookings September 22 and on September 24 a
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER and a PALM WARBLER was north of Brookings. Three
AVOCETS were at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River September 21. A
SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATER was well seen among a swarm of SOOTY SHEARWATERS
off Boiler Bay September 22. Two SANDHILL CRANES and a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK flew over Seaside that day. A PALM WARBLER was in Fort Stevens State
Park September 23.

WHITE PELICANS are still being seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir and in the
Sauvie Island/Ridgefield NWR area. Good numbers of GREAT EGRETS are now
scattered over western Oregon. Very large numbers of SANDHILL CRANES are
now on Sauvie Island.

On September 21 a PRAIRIE FALCON was in Salem. A SWAINSON'S HAWK was
south of Monmouth September 23. Twelve FORSTER'S TERNS were at Fern Ridge
Reservoir September 21. That day a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was in Eugene.
The next day an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was in west Eugene.

On September 24 a BLACK PHOEBE and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were at the
Redmond Sewage Ponds. One SABINE'S GULL was still at the LaGrande Sewage
Ponds September 21. The next day 13 COMMON TERNS were there.

Thats it for this week.
