Subject: RBA: Broad-winged Hawk at SJCR

While banding this morning I heard a whistled call that sounded
like somebody trying to catch my attention... a single "weeeeeee"
note which I heard twice. Meanwhile, Steve Warner was in parking
"c" and saw a hawk "bigger than a Cooper's, but smaller then
a Red-tail" which he thought might be a Goshawk. He described
the flight as an accipiter-like flap-flap, glide.

Listening to the Peterson tape, Broad-winged sounds pretty much
spot on like what I heard and the description is consistent with
what Steve saw. Hardly countable for me, but good enough to set
others on the look out.
