No great shakes but we had our first migrant BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD over our
place in Lake Stevens yesterday. Also, I had a SAPSUCKER, sp. identified by
the sharp descending "keer!" call, unfortunately the bird eluded visual
study. Its pecking was as loud as I've heard for a sapsucker. Does anyone
out there know about differences in calls/drums between the three
closely-related sapsuckers?

This morn we had a flyover drake WOOD DUCK, checking out the swampy woods no
doubt.
