There is a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK frequenting a feeder on Beacon Hill in
Seattle. After Sue Slade, the homeowner, called Seattle Audubon to report
the bird, I went down there to confirm the sighting. The bird looks like
it might be a first-year male molting into adult plumage (athough I am not
familiar enough with this transitional plumage to rule out the possibility
of its being a Rose-breasted/Black-headed hybrid). The bird was first
observed late yesterday afternoon and was seen at least three times
today. I saw it at about 4:30 pm. It doesn't visit the feeder very often
(I waited 1 1/2 hours), but it stays at the feeder for several minutes when
it does appear.

The Slades have generously agreed to make this sighting public. The
address in 4922 28th Ave S, and the bird visits the wooden feeder with a
pine cone hanging from the base. This feeder is in the front yard and is
visible from the sidewalk in front of the house. The Slades ask that you
DO NOT enter the yard, and DO NOT visit before 8:30 am or after
dusk. Please, I beg of you, respect their wishes and be courteous in every
way to the Slades and their neighbors.
