Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 4. If you have anything to add call Harry

On April 1 a MANX SHEARWATER was seen off Boiler Bay. Heavy movements of
KITTIWAKES, RED-THROATED LOONS, and CASPIAN TERNS were reported along the
coast during the week.

PURPLE MARTIN, CLIFF, BARN, and ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS are now moving
through the state. COMMON YELLOWTHROATS and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS are
now arriving in numbers.

The EMPEROR GOOSE is still being seen at Catching Slough at Coos Bay. On
March 31 a RED PHALAROPE was at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. On April
3 a very large flock of BONAPARTE'S GULLS was there. A YELLOW-BILLED LOON
was at Yaquina Bay March 27. The EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL is still at
Fenk Road west of Tillamook. On March 30 two RED PHALAROPES were at the
South Jetty of the Columbia River. The male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues
in Seaside.

A KILLDEER nest with three eggs was near Brownsmead March 27. A WESTERN
SCRUB-JAY was near Birkenfeld in the Coast Range March 27. BITTERNS are
now becoming active at Cedar Canyon Marsh west of Banks.

A BLUE-WINGED TEAL was in west Eugene April 3 and another was at Fern
Ridge Reservoir the same day. A male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD and a WESTERN
KINGBIRD were on Mt. Pisgah, near Eugene March 27. A female HERMIT
WARBLER was near Roseburg March 31.

The GREAT GRAY OWL was seen again March 29 at Sunriver, south of Bend.
WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKERS are now back in eastern Oregon. PINYON JAYS are
now being seen at Sisters, and very large numbers are now at Cabin Lake.
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS are now back at eastern Oregon nesting sites. A
white-headed RUDDY DUCK was at Summer Lake last week. On April 2 two
GREATER SCAUP and a CLIFF SWALLOW were at the LaGrande Sewage Ponds.
