Tweets, someone asked me for my suet recipe, and I thought it a good time to
get the recipe out for new birders as well. Got it from a bird magazine
years ago, and it very popular in my yard, and you can adapt however you

Jeff, here it is,
2 cups crunchy peanut butter
2 cups (1 # box) of lard (I get mine at Fred Meyers, cheaper, blue and white
box in the baking section, by the
shortening)
4 cups cornmeal (also at fred meyers in the bulk foods section)
4 cups quick oats (same place)
2 cups white flour
2/3 cups white sugar
1-2 cups sunflower seeds/part can be whole or crushed peanuts
melt the lard and peanut butter, stir in sugar..
add cornmeal and oats,
when not too hot add flour and beat well
add any extras, even raisins are good for this
pour into pan, set in fridge, and then cut up when set, keep rest in freezer
As long as it isn't left in sun all day, it should be fine. My little guys
and woodpeckers, including pileated are after it all year long. If kept
close to house it will discourage starlings......good luck, and happy
