If you want to see something truly incredible this weekend, head out to
Corfu Road to see the sandhill cranes. At sunset yesterday the corn
field to the east of the road was full of thousands of sandhill cranes
(a guess of 5,000) and many more canada geese (an even wilder guess of
10-15,000) with loads of ducks as well. At the sun was setting the
cranes would fly off in large groups calling constantly. The sky was
full of birds in all directions and the noise of wings and calls was
almost deafening. WOW.

Other interesting stuff seen along Gillis Road; 1 male eurasian wigeon,
4 long-billed curlews.
At Royal Lake there were 7000+ canada geese but these probably were also
seen later feeding in the corn field at Corfu.
