I saw a duck today that was in close association with a
male MALLARD. It had a green head with what looked to be
a crest-like bulge at the back of the head and a grayish
neck. In flight, it had a dark green or dark blue (the
light was bad) speculum bordered above and below by white.

I did not see the bird on the ground for more than a few
second, then, maybe, 20 seconds flying away with its Mallard
companion. My impression of the bird and notes can be seen

It was seen in the front marsh of the Astoria Mitigation.
