Today I saw my first Audubon's Warbler, a male. He sat in my cherry tree for
less than a minute and flew off..what a handsome bird!!!!

Hi Jeff -

You're obviously a "new" birder, as the Audubon's yellow-rumps are a fairly
common migrant.
Welcome to the Tweeters list.

You're right, these are handsome birds. I remember when I started birding,
many years since, I spent hours standing in the neighbor's 'grove' of
cottonwoods, watching the limbs that were studded with dozens of these
birds! Science and Religion tend to overlap and merge when one has the
opportunity to take the time to contemplate these feathered jewels.

Thanks for reminding me of the beauties of seeing some of our 'common'
birds; I think that a lot of us 'old-timers' have to be able to see these
birds through 'youthful' eyes, and remember that a male Audubon's in a
flowering cherry tree is AT LEAST as good a bird, as is some 'rarity' 'way
off in the distance....

Best,
