Thanks to a tip from Mike Denny, today we saw 3 LONG BILLED CURLEWS,4 BLACK
NECKED STILTS, AND 20+ COMMON SNIPES in the fields that have been flooded in
the area of the junction of Detour road and McDonald road. This is located
just south of Lowden and Touchet, WA. (west of Walla Walla) Some were just
west of the intersection on the south side of the road. There were also
some GREEN WINGED, BLUE WINGED and CINNIMON TEAL as well as a PINTAIL in the
field to the east of McDonald road just south of the intersection with
Detour road. The common snipes were found in both locations. We spent 2-3
hours there and saw nearly 30 species total.
