Today my mother and I ventured back to the coast,hoping to relocate a nearly
all white gull along Brady Loop Rd.,but we were unable to locate it or any
other gulls that may have moved to and from the location in the immediate
area. The mystery gull was observed along the east portion of Brady Loop Rd.
with a mixed gull flock,but as mentioned we were unable to locate any
roosting gull flocks on two seperate visits to and from destinations.Perhaps
the gull flew west towards Grays Harbor and the mouth of the Hoquim River.
Another task of our was photographing Snowy Plovers at Midway Beach
Rd.,which we were able to locate three seperate pairs just west and south of
the end of Midway Beach Rd.,despite all the weekend beach traffic by humans.
Our main highlight of the day was a first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL at the
Tokeland Marina at 2pm,where it was well photographed for documentation for
this spring record. The bird mainly foraged in the sheltered cove
surrounding the marina,as well as roosted and preened on the exposed docks
amongst Glaucous-winged/Western Gulls("Olympic Gulls"),and a few pure
Western Gulls. Large shorebird numbers at Tokeland overall were much
increased compared to yesterday, and we were able to take advantage of the
good weather throughout the day at all locations. Additional highlights
