For most of my four years of living in Seattle's east Ballard I've had a scrub jay in my immediate neighborhood, but they seem to disappear right around the time of the annual Christmas Bird Count. Then they show themselves again in the spring, and this year is no exception. Kris Baker and I heard one a couple of days ago, and yesterday I had a good look as one perched on power lines just west of 6th ave NW on NW 53rd st.
