Hi All:

Speaking of Ospreys and nest problems, I wonder how the new Bald Eagle nest
site on West Marginal Way will affect the Ospreys that nest on a light pole
near Herring House Park. I've read that eagles often disturb Ospreys enough
to keep them from nesting, and these nests are *awfully* close - I believe
they can look directly at each other at a distance of a quarter mile - maybe
a little more. I suspect those Ospreys will nest elsewhere.
I'm not a huge Osprey fan, but I have watched that nest off and on for
several years at all different stages of the breeding cycle. I was surprised
at the stab of loss I felt at the probability of them not nesting there this
year. That's life in the raptor world, though.
