Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 11. If you have anything to add call Harry

Conspicuous migrants during the week were BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER,
CASSIN'S VIREO, COWBIRD and YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD. EVENING GROSBEAKS
are now arriving in the Willamette Valley but so far their numbers are
still low.

On April 7 a GOSHAWK was in North Bend and a flock of 56 GREAT EGRETS was
at Coquille. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at Siltcoos River, south of Florence
April 9. The YELLOW-BILLED LOON is still at Florence. An early BROWN
PELICAN was off Yaquina Head April 3. A bright male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD
was at South Beach, south of Newport April 4.

Heavy coastal movements of RED-THROATED LOONS and BONAPARTE'S GULLS
occurred during the week. On April 8 over 60 RED-NECKED GREBES were off
Lincoln City. A ROSS'S GOOSE was with a flock of migrant CACKLING GEESE
near Astoria April 9.

On April 9 three WHIMBREL were at Sauvie Island. A MOCKINGBIRD and a
SAY'S PHOEBE were at Oaks Bottom in Portland during the week. On April 10
a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER was with other migrants on Mt. Tabor in southeast
Portland. A bright male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD is now coming to a feeder
east of Oregon City. During the week CASPIAN TERNS were reported from
Ankeny NWR, near Canby, and at the mouth of the Sandy River.

Low water levels at the Fernhill Wetlands is opening quite a bit of mud
and is attracting many shorebirds. On April 4 a BONAPARTE'S GULL was
there and on April 8 a SWAMP SPARROW, the hybrid GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and a
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were there.

On April a singing CANYON WREN was on the top of Upper Table Rock in the
Rogue Valley. At the Kirtland Road Sewage Ponds nearby were 5
BLACK-NECKED STILTS and up to 100 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.

CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS and HOUSE WRENS are now back in the Sisters area. A
NASHVILLE WARBLER was in Bend April 9. FRANKLIN'S GULLS are now back at
Malheur NWR. On April 9 a MOCKINGBIRD was at the Malheur Field Station.
The next day a WHITE-TAILED KITE was in the area.
