This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Monday, April 15th, evening update,
sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited stores in Vancouver and North
Vancouver.

The featured bird is Long-billed Curlew.

Sightings for Monday, April 15:

2 Osprey were seem on the west side of Annacis Island.

In a late report for Sunday, a Long-billed Curlew was seen in the fields of
Colony Farm.

Sunday, April 14:

A pair of Mountain Bluebirds was at Burnaby Lake Park on the Rugby Field at
the west end of the lake, along with 55 American Pipits.

A Short-eared Owl was at the foot of 72nd Street in Delta, and another
Short-eared Owl that was being chased by crows, flew quite high over
Reifel.
Also at Reifel was a pair of nesting Great-horned Owls, an American
Bittern,
and large numbers of Cliff Swallows.

At Point Roberts, 10 Rhinoceros Auklets flew by the point, and a Surfbird in
alternate was also in the area.

Saturday, April 13:

2 Cinnamon Teal were seen on the pond near Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen,
and a Cliff Swallow was near the pump house.

The Willet was seen on the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty along with Black
Oystercatchers.

At 112th Street along Boundary Bay there were 110 Eurasian Wigeons among
thousands of Ducks and waders as well as 200 Greater Yellowlegs.

Colony Farm had a pair of American Kestrels.

A male Anna's Hummingbird was at Camouson Park near UBC and an
Orange-crowned
warbler was at the nearby Botanical Gardens.

Friday, April 12:

A Cinnamon Teal was on the inner pond at Iona Island along with a Cliff
Swallow.

A Townsend's Solitaire was at Grant Narrows Regional Park near the
observation tower.

1 Caspian Tern flew over the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal.
