Kris Baker and I walked the south bluff at Discovery Park this evening, and crows in hot pursuit of a kestrel soon caught our attention. The crows were very persistent, and seemed to make things very unpleasant for this small falcon; the intense chase went on for several minutes over the big meadow and beyond, and eventually they went out of sight.
Later we heard some loud growling in some fir trees, and then Kris pointed out two young raccoons that were twenty feet up a doug fir.
