Well, the chickadees seem to like alot of protein. They eat alot of different bugs they find around on trees and obviously any other source of good protein.
We went camping a couple weeks ago at Fort Canby on the Long Beach Peninsula. While we were there one morning everybody went for a walk except me and I stayed with the camp. Since everything got calmer some chickadees came out and "inspected" the campsite as they are very curious. One of them found a cooked piece of steak on the table and picked at it quite a bit and then flew off. They visited again even when everybody returned and went for it again.
They do like meat when they can get it! That was the first time I became aware that they might do this. It makes sense when you think about it, but it can catch you off guard if you don't know! :-)
