On 4/20/02, there was an Earth Day project taken up by
the Shoreline Community College Environmental Club.
The location was Shoreview Park in Shoreline, NW 175th
and 6th Ave NW. Over all, we had just over 50 people
for ivy & blackberry pulling, shrub & conifer
plantings and a salmon release on Being Creek which
runs through the park.

Although not all birds, we had some nice sightings,
including American Goldfinch, Oregon Junco, Song
Sparrow, Spotted Towhee, both Purple & House Finch,
White-crowned Sparrow, Pine Siskin, Pileated
Woodpecker, Red-Breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper,
Stellar's Jay, Tree Swallow, Belted Kingfisher, and a
lone Bald Eagle soared over. The singing of all the
birds was lovely. Also seen were Douglas Squirrel
(Chickaree), Northwestern Salamander & a Northwestern
Garter Snake. The herp sightings were especially nice
for this time of year in the park.

All in all, a lovely day, with lots of birds, though
mostly commons. Good birding anyway!
