Three more on the first list for me at Nisqually today. As a beginner in my
3rd year of serious birding I was quite amazed at what I saw today. First,
male common yellowthroat warblers. Second, I saw two river otters playing
around the rivers edge about 300 yards down from the fixed mounted scope. OK
now the exciting stuff. I saw some movement about 20 feet off the boardwalk.
I stared into a thicket of trees for 10 minutes before I saw a female Rufous
sitting in her nest made of lichen. The nest was maybe 2 to 3 inches round on
the side of a limb. I viewed her two separate times for at least 45 minutes.
She would move around, stand up and do a little dance and then reposition
herself and sit down again. This will be a day I'll remember many years from
now. How could I forget it?
