I lost track of the original email requesting information on "mid-range"
binoculars so I'm not sure of the price range. Here are several bins at a
couple of price-points that I have either used, own, or know of as widely
used and generally recommended and that could be considered "mid-ranged".
Also I would check Better View Desired and some of the major catalog/online
retailers: Eagle Optics and B&H Photo are 2 that I've used and would
recommend. Note that you can get a very nice pair of porro-prism glasses at
what might be considered a "low-range" price - roughly $250 or less (see
Swift Audubon below).

Swift 8.5X44 Audubon, ED and non ED glass versions from $180 - $450, a heavy
porro but excellent and has been around for many years
Pentax DCF-WP 8X42 - a nice water proof roof prism, $370 at B&H, suppose to
be best waterproof roof prism under $500
Pentax DCF-WP 10x42 - 10X version of above, $425
Swarovski 8X30 SLC - ~$750, "upper mid-range" but more accessible than the
high end roofs (also lighter) and excellent glass, also lighter weight and
more compact than most high end roofs
Nikon Superior E's (8X and 10X) models in the $600-$700 range, these porros
supposedly have better optics than high end roof prisms
