I just got back from a brief trip to the Texas Hill Country/Concan area, saw
lots of really cool birds, had a great time! Only thing is, I heard a song
but never was able to see the bird. For those of you who have been to the
Concan TX area, can you think of a bird with a 4-note song, when I heard it
it had a long pause (at least 15 seconds, often more) between repeats of the
same 4 notes, sings during the day, hangs out in the not-too-tall trees
surrounding Neals Lodges (and other similar habitat). If you're a musician,
the notes would be really close to the intervals of G-D-G-C, w/C being the
tonic (so it'd be G down to D, etc.). The song was soft, almost whistle-y,
rather than clear and bell-like. Any ideas???
